Karen is a results-oriented administrator with a proven track record of aligning new strategies with established operations paradigms — achieving maximum growth with minimum resource expenditures. Karen embodies strong fiscal and clinical skills and impeccable quality care standards.

In addition to her strong leadership skills, she holds board certifications as an Advanced Clinical Genomics Nurse and Advanced Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Karen has held both clinical and leadership roles in both academic and community settings, as well as independent and large health systems. She recently served as Vice President of Oncology for AMITA Health, the largest health system in Illinois. During her tenure, she opened a 50,000-square-foot comprehensive cancer center, consolidated multiple electronic medical record systems, integrated multiple hospital programs into AMITA Health, and achieved numerous accreditation’s. 

Her ability to bring together various stakeholders and achieve goals is reflected in her successful leadership of a grassroots, physician-driven gastrointestinal specialty committee which resulted in the implementation of a formal surgical oncology program in partnership with Loyola University Medical Center. Karen developed a system wide lung screening program, expanded access to a renowned interventional pulmonology group, and organized sub specialty-trained thoracic surgeons to support the system.

Prior to joining AMITA Health, Karen held leadership roles at Northwestern Medicine, including Northwestern Medical Group, the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University, and the Maggie Daley Center for Women’s Cancer Care at Prentice Women’s Hospital. In this role she received the prestigious Collaborative Care Award for bringing together stakeholders from the university, researchers and the hospital in designing the operational structure of the Galter Pavilion Outpatient Research Unit.
